Infrastructural Development: Lagos Assembly Committee On Transportation Inspect Train Terminals




Hon. Adewale and other members visit Iju train station, Agege,  Ikeja, and Yaba Transit Terminal.






The T.H.E.M.E agenda of Gov. Babajide Sanwolu with transportation being the first in achieving the Lagos mega city status. The investment of the current administration in the transport sector through the provision of transport infrastructure, enabling legislation and the massive intermodal transport facilities that are been put in place lay credence to the commitment of the government to achieve a state of excellence and further entrench Lagos as the 3rd largest economy in west Africa.



As part of his legislative function, today 15th of December, the Lagos state house of assembly chairman, committee on transportation, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji led members of his committee on an oversight function to inspect the rail lines and the terminals in other to ascertain the level of work done so far and to measure performance based on the promised delivery date of the first quarter of the year 2023. The staff of LAMATA the coordinating agency in charge of the Lagos transport system led the committee by their director of rail service, Engr. Okusagaconducted them around the facilities. 



 The first point of call which is Iju train station which is being handled by CCECC  is said to have reached an 85% completion level. The committee moved from there to the Ikeja train terminal which is an intermodal terminal that is expected to link the BRT buses and First and last-mile ( FLM) buses to the train service. The facility has a shopping mall and a connecting skywalk bridge that links the terminal to the local airport.



The committee moved from there to inspect the yaba terminal and the flyover that is been constructed over the Tejuoso market to cut the human traffic from the rail line. The team advanced to the Oyingbo terminal where the rolling stock of the redline train was stacked. 


According to the chairman of the committee *Hon. Adewale*, the completion and the operation of the train service will have a positive effect on the transport sector in Lagos, it will create employment and also ease the traffic gridlock on our roads and boost the economy of the state. He also commended the governor Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu for his commitment to making Lagos a beautiful place for all. 



Speaking in the same vein is a member of the committee, Hon. Bisi Yusuf expressed his gladness at the level of work done and expressed the positive impact the train service will have on the people of Lagos. He challenges LAMATA to ensure proper maintenance of the facility when it's finally commissioned for use. He further pleads with Lagosian to return the governor in other to ensure the continuity of the good works ongoing in the state. 


 Also speaking is the director of Rail service, LAMATA, Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga in his word says the redline is expected to lift 500 passengers daily when completed. He used the occasion to appreciate the governor for the good works and the legislators for their unrelenting service to the state.``` 





The project is been implemented by CCECC, Step Development, and Craneburg and it's expected to be completed and commence operation in march 2023.
